One of the best parts of the holiday season is the aromatic and heartwarming food. And of course, it’s even better when it’s scratch-made and shared with the people you love the most.
I love the holidays in my home. The oven fills the house with the scent of aromatic foods and freshly baked treats, and we indulge in some of our favorite holiday recipes.
These recipes are simple and made with mostly pantry staples. And many of them (especially the sourdough recipes) can be made in advance.
Speaking of making sourdough in advance! If you want to work sourdough into your holiday schedule, be sure to check out my sourdough for busy people video on YouTube. It has helpful and tangible tips for making sourdough during busy seasons.
Cozy Christmas Morning Breakfast Recipes
Christmas breakfast is my favorite meal of the holiday. There is nothing sweeter than enjoying a cozy breakfast while my little one delights in the magic of Christmas morning.
Most of these recipes can be made ahead of time. For the sourdough recipes, I recommend making the dough the night before and baking it in the morning.
You can also store sourdough dough in the fridge for up to 3 days. So you can definitely make it a few days early to save time.
A few recipes require extra time (like homemade bacon) or are best made the day of (caramelized pears).
Each link will direct you to the recipe, so check out the full instructions while planning your holiday menu.

Best Sourdough Bread Recipes for Christmas
If you ask me, every day is a good day for homemade bread. But a cozy Christmas kitchen that fills the house with the scent of freshly baked bread? That’s what Christmas dreams are made of!
One trick to working homemade sourdough bread into your holiday schedule is to make it in advance. You can freeze sourdough dough, freeze baked sourdough bread, or store the dough in the fridge for 1-3 days before baking.
I like to keep a few different types of bread around this time of year: a rustic no-knead boule for homemade stuffing and bread pudding and a sandwich loaf for leftover turkey sandwiches.
