Homemade Salted Caramel Latte

Sharing is caring!

An easy homemade salted caramel latte uses the coffee of your choice and a delicious, velvety homemade salted caramel sauce. Making this latte is faster than sitting in the line at Starbucks–and tastes better, too.

I’ve shared a recipe for how to make a perfect latte at home. This recipe is just as easy with only added homemade salted caramel sauce. Not only is it simple to make, your at-home coffee will rival a Starbucks salted caramel latte.

As always, I recommend using a coffee art stencil for an elevated touch to your homemade latte. It’s such a treat to have not only a delicious coffee in the morning, but a beautiful one, too. And if you are serving it to guests, they will LOVE the coffee art.

How I Make a Salted Caramel Latte

  • Start with homemade caramel: I always start with homemade caramel. For the most part, I do not like coffee syrups (though there are a couple I like here and there). Making caramel sauce is really easy and takes about only 10 minutes.
  • Add a pick-me-up: I usually use two shots of espresso. But sometimes, you just need three. However, often, it isn’t caffeine I need. Rather, it’s time. So I offer myself a minute or two to stencil my coffee and really enjoy a beautiful morning drink.
  • My favorite milk for lattes: I usually use organic whole milk for my lattes. But for a salted caramel latte in particular, I love using Oatly’s Barista Blend oat milk. It has a nutty, earthy flavor that pairs perfectly with the caramel. Even my husband, who hates milk alternatives, prefers his latte with oat milk.

Not a coffee person? Swap out the salted caramel latte for a salted caramel hot chocolate. Just add the salted caramel sauce to your cocoa.

I use a Breville Barista Pro to make my espresso and lattes. It’s been the best way I have found to make coffee. But this will also work with any method of making coffee as long as you have frothed milk.

Homemade Salted Caramel Latte

Yield: 1
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Additional Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes

An easy salted caramel latte that is perfect for fall mornings and holiday gatherings. Making this homemade latte is faster than sitting in the Starbucks line. Plus, hands down, it tastes better.

  • 1 tbsp salted caramel sauce or to taste
  • 2 shots of espresso or more or less to taste
  • Milk any variety the will froth

    1. Warm your desired amount of salted caramel sauce. Just a few seconds in the microwave will do. Pour into an empty mug (adding the caramel warm will prevent the coffee from cooling down).
    2. Make your coffee as usual. I usually use two shots of espresso. Then, pour into mug and stir to combine with the caramel.
    3. Froth your milk. If you plan on using a coffee art stencil, make sure it’s nice and foamy.
    4. Pour frothed milk into mug. I like to pour about half, stir, and pour the remainder.
    5. Make it beautiful: stencil with your favorite moon + magnolia coffee art stencil or drizzle with a little more warm caramel.
